Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
In short
DiceOrbit keeps your recent rolls and your settings on your iPhone. It does not send them to Gorantla Labs or to anyone else, so we do not collect or receive them. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
1. Who we are
DiceOrbit is a dice-rolling app for iPhone, made by Gorantla Labs, an independent software studio based in the United Kingdom. Gorantla Labs is not currently a registered UK limited company.
For the purposes of data protection law, the data controller for any personal data we do receive in connection with DiceOrbit (see section 12) is Sivasankar Gorantla, who operates as an individual trading as Gorantla Labs.
2. What this policy covers
This policy describes how the DiceOrbit app for iPhone handles information. It does not cover the gorantlalabs.com website, including the pages you are reading now, or our HiveFoldr app. Both are covered by the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
3. What DiceOrbit stores on your iPhone
DiceOrbit saves two kinds of information on your iPhone, so that the app remembers where you left off. This is stored locally, on your device. It is not collected by, sent to or received by Gorantla Labs.
Your roll history
For each completed roll: when it happened, which dice you rolled and the numbers they showed. DiceOrbit stores your 200 most recent rolls in a file in its private storage and removes the oldest as new ones are added. This is what you see under History.
Your settings
Seven preferences (the dice you last used, your dice theme, and your choices for sound, haptics, Shake to Roll, Reduce Motion and Match Table to Theme) and a note of whether the how-to-roll hint is still shown.
This information stays in DiceOrbit's private storage on your iPhone. DiceOrbit does not send it anywhere. It does not include your name, your email address, or any account or device identifier.
4. What DiceOrbit does not do
DiceOrbit is built to work without collecting anything about you. It:
- has no accounts or sign-in, and does not ask you for any personal information;
- contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, and no third-party code libraries (SDKs);
- does not track you across other companies' apps or websites;
- does not use your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data, and does not ask for any permissions on your iPhone; and
- does not connect to the internet itself: it has no online features. (If you tap Privacy Policy or Support in Settings, your web browser opens a page on our website; see section 8.)
5. Shake to Roll, sound and haptics
Shake to Roll
Shake to Roll is on by default, and you can turn it off in Settings. It uses the standard shake gesture built into iOS: iOS tells DiceOrbit that your iPhone has been shaken, and the app rolls the dice. DiceOrbit does not read, record or store your iPhone's motion-sensor data, and does not ask for motion permissions.
Sound
DiceOrbit makes its dice sounds itself, on your iPhone, while the app is running. It only plays sound: it never uses your microphone or records audio.
Haptics
Haptic feedback is produced by iOS on your iPhone as the dice roll and land. Nothing about it is recorded.
6. Where your information is kept
Your roll history and settings are kept only in DiceOrbit's private storage on your iPhone, which other apps cannot read. How well they are protected depends on your iPhone's own security, such as having a passcode. We run no server that holds DiceOrbit information and have no access to what is stored on your iPhone, so we cannot see your rolls or settings.
Device backups, for example iCloud Backup or a backup made to a computer, may contain DiceOrbit's history and settings, as they may for other apps. DiceOrbit does not exclude its data from backups. Backups are made and controlled by you and Apple, not by us, and we cannot say how long backup copies are kept or when they are deleted.
7. How long it is kept, and your choices
- Your roll history stays until you clear it, or until newer rolls push it out (the limit is 200 rolls). To clear it, tap Clear in History, or Clear History in Settings. Either asks you to confirm first, and removes every roll from the history stored in the app on your iPhone. It does not change your settings, and it does not remove copies that may already be in a device backup.
- Your settings stay until you change them.
- You can turn off Sound, Haptics and Shake to Roll in Settings at any time.
- Deleting DiceOrbit from your iPhone removes its stored history and settings from the device. Copies that may be in device backups are not removed by this.
8. What Gorantla Labs receives, and Apple
DiceOrbit does not transmit your roll history, your settings or anything else it stores to Gorantla Labs or to anyone else: the app contains no networking code. We therefore do not receive that information, and we cannot see, sell or share it.
Apple, and optional diagnostics
DiceOrbit is distributed by Apple, through the App Store and, for testers, TestFlight, and Apple's own privacy policy applies to its services. DiceOrbit itself contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. Separately, iOS lets you choose, in your iPhone's settings, whether to share analytics and crash information about apps with their developers. If you have turned that on, Apple may make crash reports and usage statistics about DiceOrbit available to us through Apple's developer tools. That is Apple's service, controlled by your iPhone settings. It is not information that DiceOrbit collects or transmits. Apple's privacy policy explains how it handles information.
Our website
Tapping Privacy Policy or Support in DiceOrbit's Settings opens a page on gorantlalabs.com in your web browser. The app adds nothing to that request: no information about you or your rolls. As with any website, our web host receives technical details such as your IP address and the page requested; this is explained in the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
9. Children
Gorantla Labs does not collect or receive information from DiceOrbit about anyone, including children.
10. Your rights, and how to complain
Your DiceOrbit history and settings stay on your iPhone and we never receive them, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. You can see your rolls under History and clear them yourself, as described in section 7.
For personal data we do hold, such as an email you send us, UK data protection law gives you rights, including to ask for access, correction or deletion. These are explained in the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first at hello@gorantlalabs.com so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as DiceOrbit changes. If a future version of DiceOrbit handles information differently, we will update this policy to say so. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
12. Contact us
If you have a question about this policy or about privacy in DiceOrbit, email us at hello@gorantlalabs.com. We use your email address and what you write only to read and reply to you. This address is hosted using Microsoft 365; how email is handled is explained in the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
