Orbit XO · by Gorantla Labs
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 21 October 2026
In short
Orbit XO is a two-player game that works entirely on your iPhone. It remembers only the colour theme you chose and whether sound and haptics are on, and keeps them on your iPhone. It does not send them to Gorantla Labs or to anyone else, so we do not collect or receive them. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not connect to the internet.
1. Who we are
Orbit XO is a two-player Tic-Tac-Toe game for iPhone, made by Gorantla Labs, an independent software studio based in the United Kingdom and operated by an individual, Sivasankar Gorantla. Gorantla Labs is not currently a registered UK limited company.
For the purposes of data protection law, the data controller for any personal data we do receive in connection with Orbit XO (see section 12) is Sivasankar Gorantla, who operates as an individual trading as Gorantla Labs.
2. What this policy covers
This policy describes how the Orbit XO app for iPhone handles information. It does not cover the gorantlalabs.com website, including the pages you are reading now, which is covered by the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy. It does not cover any other Gorantla Labs app.
3. What Orbit XO stores on your iPhone
Orbit XO saves three preferences on your iPhone, so that the app opens the way you left it. They are stored locally, on your device. They are not collected by, sent to or received by Gorantla Labs.
Your theme
Which of the twelve colour themes you chose, such as Eclipse or Nebula.
Your sound setting
Whether Orbit XO's sound effects are switched on or off.
Your haptics setting
Whether haptic feedback is switched on or off.
Nothing else is saved. The scores, the board and whose turn it is exist only in the app's memory while the app is running, and are gone when the app is closed. This stored information does not include your name, your email address, or any account or device identifier.
4. What Orbit XO does not do
Orbit XO is built to work without collecting anything about you. It:
- has no accounts or sign-in, and does not ask you for any personal information;
- contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, and no third-party code libraries (SDKs);
- does not track you across other companies' apps or websites;
- does not use your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data, and does not ask for any permissions on your iPhone;
- has no online multiplayer: both players use the same iPhone, and nothing is sent between devices; and
- does not connect to the internet. It contains no networking code and no links that open web pages, so it works the same in Airplane Mode.
5. Sound and haptics
Orbit XO plays short sound effects for moves, wins, draws and Play Again. The app creates them itself, on your iPhone: it does not download audio or use any audio files, and it does not use your microphone or record anything. Sound follows your iPhone's Ring/Silent switch and volume, plays alongside any other audio you are listening to, and is only heard while Orbit XO is open. You can turn it off in Settings.
Orbit XO gives a light haptic tap when a mark is placed and a softer one when a round ends. The haptic feedback is produced by iOS on your iPhone, and nothing about it is recorded. You can turn it off in Settings, separately from sound.
6. Where your information is kept
Your theme, sound and haptics preferences are kept only in Orbit XO's private storage on your iPhone, which other apps cannot read. How well they are protected depends on your iPhone's own security, such as having a passcode. We run no server that holds Orbit XO information and have no access to what is stored on your iPhone.
Device backups, for example iCloud Backup or a backup made to a computer, may contain Orbit XO's preferences, as they may for other apps. Backups are made and controlled by you and Apple, not by us, and we cannot say how long backup copies are kept or when they are deleted.
7. How long it is kept, and your choices
- Your theme, sound and haptics choices stay until you change them in the app.
- You can change your theme, or turn Sound or Haptics off, at any time.
- Deleting Orbit XO from your iPhone removes its stored preferences from the device. Copies that may be in device backups are not removed by this.
8. What Gorantla Labs receives, and what Apple may process
There are two separate things here. The first is what Orbit XO itself collects, stores and sends, which is described in sections 3 and 4: it stores three preferences on your iPhone and sends nothing anywhere. The second is information that Apple and iOS may process independently of the app. We do not control that, and it is not collected by Orbit XO.
What Orbit XO sends to Gorantla Labs
Orbit XO does not transmit your preferences or anything else to Gorantla Labs or to anyone else: the app contains no networking code. We therefore do not receive that information, and we cannot see, sell or share it.
What Apple may process independently
Orbit XO is distributed through Apple's services, such as the App Store and TestFlight, and Apple handles information about your use of those services under its own privacy policy. iOS also manages things the app does not control, such as device backups (section 6) and whether your iPhone shares analytics and crash information about apps with their developers, which you choose in your iPhone's settings. Orbit XO itself contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. If you have chosen to share that information, Apple may make crash reports and usage statistics about Orbit XO available to us through Apple's developer tools. That is Apple's service, controlled by your iPhone settings, and not information that Orbit XO collects or transmits. Apple's privacy policy explains how it handles information.
Our website
The Orbit XO privacy and support pages are on gorantlalabs.com. The app does not open them: you would visit them yourself in a web browser. As with any website, our web host receives technical details such as your IP address and the page requested; this is explained in the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
9. Children
Gorantla Labs does not collect or receive information from Orbit XO about anyone, including children.
10. Your rights, and how to complain
Your Orbit XO preferences stay on your iPhone and we never receive them, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. You can change them in the app yourself, as described in section 7.
For personal data we do hold, such as an email you send us, UK data protection law gives you rights, including to ask for access, correction or deletion. These are explained in the Gorantla Labs Privacy Policy.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, please contact us first at hello@gorantlalabs.com so we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office:
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Orbit XO changes. If a future version of Orbit XO handles information differently, we will update this policy to say so. The date at the top shows when it took effect.
12. Contact us
For any question about this policy or about privacy in Orbit XO, and for help with the app, email us at hello@gorantlalabs.com.
This address is hosted using Microsoft 365. Sending us an email means Microsoft processes the message content and associated metadata (such as the sender and recipient addresses and subject line) as part of delivering, storing and securing it on our behalf. We use your email address and the contents of your message only to read and respond to you, and we do not add you to a mailing list. We keep email correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and any related follow-up, and delete it once it's no longer needed.
